Our upcoming teacher training will be a comprehensive program centering on the fundamentals of asana teaching through the study of Anatomy and Alignment. We will rely heavily on the Anusara principles of alignment, giving a big nod to the Iyengar tradition, Body Mind Centering and Rolfing.
The philosophy section will focus on two yoga texts—The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and The Bhagavad Gita.
The health and wellness section will focus on an Introduction to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of health care.
This training is designed to create an easy atmosphere for learning. We are all creative beings and there are a great number of brilliant artists out there who couldn’t bear to be bad on the road to being good. We will revel in process and indulge in the fact that all learning is trial and error. Our training will provide an environment where we can truly dive into the joy of learning and have a lot of laughs along the way to becoming teachers.
The training will take place over twelve weekends. The next training will begin August 18th. Applications are due by August 1st. The cost of the training is $2800 if paid in full by December 15th and $3200 thereafter (payment plans are available). The cost of the training will include all required books. You can visit our website for a full list of the schedule or for more information on the Yoga Center of Brooklyn.
